Why The Name: Psalms Joy?

I was once asked about my favorite book in the Bible. I wondered if it was a trick question. Like, shouldn't we love all of God's Word equally? If we're perfectly honest, I believe we all have a particular book in the Bible that speaks to us more than others. I asked myself what book I most often turn to and enjoy. I realized that the answer was easy. Since childhood, that book has been the book of Psalms. Psalm 23 is the first scripture I learned from my grandmother. The Psalms are the one book in the Bible that offers us ways to rejoice in prayer, to bend our knees in worship, and to exalt God for all He does and for all His blessings He gives us.

The book of Psalms teaches us to praise, be thankful, exercise our faith, give hope, deal with sorrow and remedies for sin, and talk about sin. I wanted the brand and each product to serve as a reminder of God's faithfulness when we seek, trust, and abide in Him.  When I was overwhelmed and dismayed with my skin and wanted to honor my body at every stage and age, the Psalms reminded me of God's loyalty and help in our time of need. The book of Psalms is life-related. The Psalms illuminate the greatness of our God, affirm His faithfulness to us in times of trouble, and remind us of the absolute centrality of His Word.

There are stories of both victory and defeat, joy and sorrow, health and illness, and strength and weakness. In other words, it runs the gamut of human experience. Psalms mark all the important spiritual moments and emotions in the lives of the people of God. No matter what you're going through, be it sickness, a financial crisis, feeling a lack of purpose, struggling with identity, or a skin issue, the Psalms are like comfort food in the midst of trials and tribulations. You can always find joy, no matter your circumstances or situation, because nothing is too hard for a God who loves us unconditionally.
